Which Baby Carrier is Right for You? Ergobaby vs. Happy Baby

One of the things I really wish I had researched a bit better when I was shopping for baby gear for our little boy (and something I'll definitely invest in next time) is a really nice baby carrier. As we prepared for our little boy to be born, I tried to be fairly minimalistic and only purchase items I knew we'd need. Then as he grew and we learned more about parenting, I purchased other things AS we needed them. I'll be honest. Since we waited a long time for this miracle baby to join our family, I honestly didn't really worry about doing much for the first few weeks after he was born. Instead, I sat in the comfy rocking chair in his room, and I just enjoyed holding my little boy. But eventually, I decided it was time to get out of the rocking chair...and my pajamas.

Even though I had decided it was time to do something other than cuddle all day, my little man did NOT receive the memo. So I quickly researched baby carriers and purchased a wrap carrier. I absolutely LOVED our wrap carrier while our baby was tiny and when we were at home, but as he grew and we ventured out of the house more often, I decided I wanted to get a baby carrier with fewer yards of fabric and a little more structure and support. But I bought an inexpensive soft-structured baby carrier, and I regretted it almost every time I strapped it on. So I'm really excited to share with you these two videos and to explain the features of the Ergobaby Baby Carriers (Ergobaby Original, Ergobaby Adapt, Ergobaby 360, and the Ergobaby Omni 360) and the Happy Baby Carrier.

First, let's talk about the Ergobaby carriers. Ergobaby is known for creating ergonomic baby carriers that are comfortable and supportive for babies and parents. All Ergobaby carriers are comfortable for babies and parents of different sizes, ages, and heights. And most importantly, they provide the support babies and parents need—so babies can continue to grow and develop, and so parents can continue to carry their babies as they grow! As you search for the perfect baby carrier, it's important to think about your needs—the size of your baby, your climate, and your activity level are a few things to consider.

Ergobaby Original Baby Carrier

The Ergobaby Original baby carrier has long been one of the most popular baby carriers...and for good reason! With three carrying options—front (facing parent), hip, and back—and a weight capacity of 12 to 45 pounds (and seven to 45 pounds with the infant insert), this is a great option for babies of all sizes! It also has several storage pockets, including a slip pocket on the front of the carrier, and a large zipper pocket with a sunshade.

Ergobaby Adapt Baby Carrier

The Ergobaby Adapt baby carrier is designed for carrying babies of all sizes (from seven to 45 pounds, Ergobaby's widest weight range) without an additional infant insert. This carrier also has three carrying options—front (facing parent), hip, and back—as well as an included sunshade, two-position head support, and additional lumbar support. I especially love the adjustable panels inside the carrier that adjust the seated position with a quick velcro adjustment! I also love that you have the option for cross-back carry (without needing help from another adult to buckle the carrier) because the buckles are on the front of the carrier!

Ergobaby 360 Baby Carrier

The Ergobaby 360 baby carrier has four carrying options—front (facing parent), front (facing out), hip, and back—and a weight capacity of 12 to 23 pounds (seven to 23 pounds with the infant insert). It also has two-position head support and a wider waistband for extra lumbar support.

Ergobaby Omni 360 Baby Carrier

The Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier has four carrying options—front (facing parent), front (facing out), hip, and back—and a weight capacity of seven to 33 pounds without an infant insert. It is a great all-in-one carrier if you're not sure how you will you be using it because it has all of the features of the Ergobaby Adapt baby carrier and the Ergobaby 360 baby carrier. Just like the Ergobaby Adapt baby carrier, you have the option for cross-back carry (without needing help from another adult to buckle the carrier) because the buckles are on the front of the carrier! It also has two-position head support, a sunshade, and adjustable panels inside the carrier that adjust the seated position with a quick velcro adjustment. And this is the only carrier that includes an additional detachable pouch!

Now, let's talk about the Happy Baby carrier:

Happy Baby Carrier

The Happy Baby carrier is made of a natural linen, making it extra soft, breathable (ideal for hot weather), and lightweight. It is 30 percent lighter than most soft-structured baby carriers and easily fits in your diaper bag! It is also suitable for babies from newborn to 45 pounds without an infant insert! With the Happy Baby carrier, you have three carrying options—the newborn carry, the front carry, or the back carry positions. It also has thick straps that distribute the weight evenly between your shoulder blades and your hips, and (my absolute favorite feature of this carrier) a purse strap on both shoulders to keep your purse from slipping off your shoulder! And not to be outdone by the Ergobby carriers, it has a large front pocket with an expandable sunshade.

I'm so glad I'm learning more about all of these amazing baby carriers, so I will be better prepared to choose and purchase a baby carrier for our next baby! I think all five of these carriers are wonderful options for different reasons, and I really don't think you can go wrong with any of them!
